Why Study Wicca/Witchcraft?
We believe that Witchcraft is a spiritual philosophy as well as a nature based religion. It is important, as you practice Witchcraft to understand the meanings behind your actions. If you do not understand the spiritual implications behind your actions then you will not understand the results of your actions.
When a person performs a spell, often the desired result does not occur. Why is this? Ultimately, only the person performing the spell knows why. We have learned that if your life is out of balance and you are more interested in pragmatic results from the practice of Witchcraft then you will never see the spiritual results. Eventually, your pragmatic results will stop occuring the way you wish them to. There is only so much monkeying around with your life you can really do before the essential natural balance strikes back and places you back on the path you were intended to travel.
There are a lot of Wiccans out there who do not perform spells. Their spirituality is a philosophy and a religion. Wicca offers this to you. How much of this have you learned in working with a coven? How much philosophy have you learned from all those books on your shelves? This is the best place to start.
If you let others drive you to the store and you have never looked at a map, the spirituality behind Wicca may not be meaningful to you. However, if you believe in understanding your destiny and making your own decisions about magic, Wicca, and your life, then studying Wicca is appropriate for you.
Taking a step for yourself, like studying Wicca, is the first step towards taking charge of your life. Studying Wicca can get you in touch with your higher consciousness and expand reality as you know it today. While Wicca isn't going to make you win the lottery, it can help you accept your life as it is today. This kind of peace is priceless.
